“How precious is the family as the privileged place for transmitting the faith” Pope Francis
Family and community is at the heart of our children’s faith formation programming. From our family based religious education program for children to our children’s sacramental preparation programs, we believe that the experience of faith happens most naturally and frequently within the family. “Nothing replaces family catechesis, especially for its positive and receptive environment, for the example of adults, and for its first explicit experience and practice of the faith… [Parents’] faith, their attitude toward other human beings, and their trust in a loving God strongly influence the development of [their] child’s faith.” (usccb.org)
This experience of faith within the family is enhanced by the expression of this faith within the larger community of MPB. We accompany one another as we discover and live more deeply our Catholic Christian faith through shared reflection, study, and service.
In keeping with this tradition of community, MPB has a team of staff members who work to create and coordinate faith formation opportunities for our vibrant parish family: Debi Jamison, Kristen Kraus, and Kate Rice. What’s new for 2018-2019?
On each of our program pages, you will notice a section highlighting updates for the upcoming year. Our goal is to create programming that accompanies our parish families on their faith journey in a way that best meets their needs. The changes we’ve made to our programming for this year are in response to feedback received at our parent dialogues in June 2018 and from the survey we received back from families. We hope that as our programs grow and evolve, the changes we have made will help families build community within the parish and also feel supported as they journey together with their children in faith and sacrament preparation.
