Creation Connections: “The Road to Cleaner Air”

You are invited to a presentation and discussion by Phillip Von Hake at Creation Care’s Creation Connection event May 21, 2019, 7:00pm in the RCIA Room.

Phil von Hake has worked since 2012 as an Environmental Protection Specialist with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). Phil not only works on cleaner cars, but also fewer cars: chairing the CDPHE Transportation Alternatives Committee, and co-founding the #CDPHEbikes team.

This event precedes June’s Bike Safety & Repair family event.

Detention Center Vigil

Members of the MPB Justice Matters ministry along with additional MPB community members, showed their support for those being detained at the GEO Detention Facility in Aurora on Monday, May 6. We were able to experience the stories of real people struggling to overcome the extreme consequences of the immigration system. We shared in the sorrow of wives whose husbands are facing deportation, fathers who are separated from their children, and women who are isolated in sanctuary. Justice Matters meets monthly to explore opportunities for advocacy and support for those on the margins. Contact Ann for more information.

Mother’s Day 4 Others

Aka Family to Family Diaper Drive May 4-5

This year there are 4 ways to support struggling moms.

  1. Donate diapers, formula, baby wipes for Birthline and Sacred Heart House
  2. Support the moms by writing a check to Catholic Charities – Bottom Line Diaper Bank. Bottom Line is able to purchase diapers at a bulk rate and then distributes them to many charitable organizations.
  3. Purchase or make a card to express support for these moms.
  4. Pick up a prayer card in the Gathering Space and pray for these moms during the month of May.

Family to Family members will be in the Gathering Space the weekend of May 4-5 to gather your donations, and cards after all Masses. Prayer cards will also be available.

WOO –May 2

Join the ladies of WOO as we serve the moms at SafeHouse and Sacred Heart House. We will be gathering to assemble Mother’s Day gift bags and creating personalized cards for the ladies. Contact Ann if you’re interested in making a donation to this service project.  All ladies welcome!

Thank you for your Support of Annunciation House

Thank you for supporting Annunciation House in El Paso during the Holy Thursday Service. The mission of Annunciation House is to accompany the migrant, refugee, and economically vulnerable peoples of the border region through hospitality, advocacy, and education. They are especially in need at this time as they are experiencing high numbers of refugees, 400-600 a day, who are in need of shelter and support. If you missed the opportunity to support this outreach, you can get information on how to contribute directly on their website. https://annunciationhouse.org/ Thank you for reaching out to those whose human dignity has been denied.
