News & Events for March

Reaching Out to our Family to Family Seniors and Families

Many of you connected with families and seniors during the holidays with our Family to Family Christmas program. Many of these families and seniors may be feeling isolated and especially challenged at this time. Many may now be facing unemployment. Hearing from you with a quick “hello” or “how are you doing” may brighten their day. Please consider reaching out to them. If you need their contact information, contact Ann

Area Community Support

Are you looking for ways to support various agencies that serve others during this time? I am presently creating a data base of agencies that are in need at various levels. If you’re looking for ways to help, please contact Ann.

Pastoral Care

Connect with our Homebound during the COVID crisis.

Many of our parishioners are isolated in their homes or nursing facilities at this time.  As we know, it’s difficult to feel cut off from family, friends and community while we are keeping our most vulnerable safe.  So we invite you to help us connect with our homebound through cards and/or check-in calls.  If you and your family would like to participate in this service project please contact Christine Maschka at cmaschka@mpbdenver.org.  Thanks so much for helping us keep connected during this difficult time.

Faith & Racial Equity: Exploring Power & Privilege Module

“Faith & Racial Equity: Exploring Power & Privilege” is an 8-week course that awakens groups to the economic systems, public policies, cultural norms, and hidden biases that empower some and oppress others.

We’ll introduce a framework for understanding and recognizing racial disparities by looking at power and privilege and how they contribute to racial injustice. Later sessions will take a deeper dive into specific issues related to power and privilege, including affirmative action, lack of equal access to educational opportunities, disparities within the criminal justice system, and powerful biases in media representation.

The Faith & Racial Equity Module will be offered:
Monday* afternoons 12:30 pm – 3:00 pm. *Tuesday, May 26
MPB / RCIA Room
April 13- June 1

Family Promise at Grace United Methodist Church

Family Promise provides temporary housing, meals, and services to at-risk families. They help families achieve independence through mentoring, financial literacy, and helping them find jobs and affordable house.

Grace United Methodist Church will be hosting the families from March 8-14, 2020. There are many opportunities to help their visitors feel welcomed. Their greatest need is for van drivers from Grace to the day site and back in the afternoon Monday through Friday. This takes about 2.5 hours per day. Please e-mail Carol Greenwald at carol.greenwald@ucdenver.edu if you can assist in offering warm hospitality.

Lenten Prayer Service

Want to do something special for Lent?

Please consider joining us for the rosary each Friday evening in March. Pope Francis says, “The rosary is the prayer of my heart.” He prays it every day. Pope John Paul II said this loving repetition of the Rosary “embodies the desire for Christ to become the breath, soul and all of one’s life.” Because we believe in prayer and its potential to bring us closer to God, and because we believe our common home, our Earth, needs our prayers, we will be saying the Franciscan Creation Care rosary (same mysteries with a slightly adjusted focus) on Fridays (March 6, 13, 20 and 27) at 7:00 in the RCIA room.
