News & Events for July

SCAM ALERT

From Health and Wellness Ministry:

Area Blood Clinics are always in need of blood.  This need usually increases during the summer months.  Due to our construction on campus, Health and Wellness is not able to host a Blood Drive this summer.  We encourage those who have given in the past or would like to give this summer to call Vitalant (formerly Bonfils) at 303-363-2300 to set up a time to give at one of their local clinics.  We appreciate your commitment to saving lives through donating blood!

Day 2 Serve Thank You!

Thanks to all the volunteers who “dug in” to help out at Earth Links with MPB teacher Cathy Schilling. EarthLinks is an innovative, urban nonprofit, that provides a work program for people who are homeless and low-income to learn skills and create Earth-friendly products that sustain people and the planet. Volunteers pulled weeds and laid bricks to provide a new garden path. Your work lifted up those who are on the margins!

News & Events for December

From Social Outreach

Many Thanks!

Family to Family

How do you say thank you for the generosity of time, talents and gifts that were shared with over 250 school families and seniors over the holidays? In addition to the families and seniors, hundreds of moms and their children will also have a brighter Christmas at Birthline, Sacred Heart House and Gabriel House because of the hundreds of toys that were donated by the MPB parishioners and MPB school families. And it all happened because of the many Family to Family coordinators and volunteers who answered questions, delivered and sorted toys, connected families, and planned gatherings. The success of this ministry is because of the MPB community’s belief and commitment to being the hands and feet of Christ by lifting others up. Thank you!

Exploring Migration: A Faith Journey

This 8-week program, Exploring Migration: A Faith Journey, invites participants to formulate a personal response to the 21st-century reality of migration inspired by their Christian beliefs. It explores some of the central questions related to the reality of migration on a global level and in the U.S. context. The sessions provide historical, biblical, and theological perspectives and suggest ways participants can take action in their own context.

Cost is $40 and registration is limited. To register, contact Ann. Additional information: https://tinyurl.com/JMflyerW19 or https://justfaith.org/exploring-migration-faith-journey/.

Hope for the Holidays- Immigrants Know We Care

Thanks to the MPB community for taking the time to create holiday wishes for the detainees in the ICE Detention Center in Aurora . Over 950 cards were created by the MPB community, and delivered through Casa de Paz. Because of the success of this ministry, many of the cards will also be delivered to those at the border this Christmas. You have helped many immigrants know that they are not forgotten this Christmas. Thank you!

Merry Christmas from all of us at MPB!

Christmas Outreach Opportunities from Social Outreach

Hope for the Holidays!

You can send a message of support to someone who is locked behind immigration detention bars this holiday season. A card and candy bar will be given to each person who is detained in the Colorado immigration detention center. This is a powerful way to remind people they matter, they are not forgotten about and we do care about them.

There are important specific details for making the cards so that they fit the detention center guidelines. Please check https://tinyurl.com/MPBHope4Holidays for those details.

Cards can be completed and dropped off to the office or back of church by Monday, Dec 10. We will also join in community to make cards on Sunday, Dec 9 after the 10:45 Mass in the RCIA room from 12:00-1:30. Cookies will be served. Come and join in support for those who have been marginalized. Questions: Ann Zimmer azimmer@MPBdenver.org

Want to get in the holiday spirit? No way better than to serve others. Join MPB teacher, Katie Cawley, as she leads a group on December 17 from 9:00 -12:00 volunteering at the Denver Santa Claus Shop.

The Denver Santa Claus Shop is a volunteer-run, nondenominational, nonprofit that shares the spirit of the Holidays with Denver children in need – many of whom might not otherwise have a toy to open at Christmas.
