The music ministry at Most Precious Blood serves the parish by leading sung liturgy at all weekend Masses and other major liturgies throughout the year. MPB has a long history of strong congregational singing and one can truly hear the voices of many united in praise from the pews. The musicians who serve at MPB facilitate and encourage active participation in the liturgy. As the community sings together, we strengthen our faith and our call to serve one another.
Music We Sing
If it gets people singing and strengthens our faith…then we sing it! The music at MPB reflects the diversity of our global community, the rich history of the church and the vibrant music of today. It is informed by the readings each weekend, the seasons of the church year and the joys and challenges of our community. MPB music repertoire includes traditional hymns, favorites influenced by the folk-guitar era, gospel styles, contemporary praise music, multi-cultural music, choral and instrumental masterpieces and even music composed by our Pastor, Father Patrick Dolan.
The ministry consists of 2 groups – Adult Music Ministry and Children’s Choir.
New members are welcome to join at most anytime. If you are interested, please complete one of these forms or contact Teresa Stone at email@example.com.
All musicians are part of one cohesive group, regardless of their Mass time, age or musical style. This mirrors how many become one in the MPB community. All active ministers rehearse together on Monday nights. MPB’s five weekend Masses use the same music repertoire and schedule. The musicians may assist at any Mass based on their preference and it may vary from week to week. This creates a flexible team that supports one another and can easily combine for special liturgies and concerts.
The adult music ministry is a multi-generational community of musicians ages 13-80. We have many levels of experience involved from professional musicians to those who find they just love to sing. MPB is blessed with a wide variety of instrumentation including vocals, piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, electric bass, mandolin, violin, flute, french horn, trumpet, percussion, and drum set. We have about 90 active members at any given time. New members of any voice part or instrument are always welcome.
Vocalists should be able to match pitch and instrumentalists should be proficient on their instruments. All musicians must attend rehearsals and keep an organized music binder. Students 7th grade and higher may join the adult choir if they are ready for the commitment.
Rehearsal & Mass Schedule
September through May: Mondays from 7:30-9:00pm.
June through August: Every other Monday from 7:00-9:00pm.
Seasonal Sectionals: Near Christmas, Easter and Concerts we may have some sectionals. A few are required but most are optional. They usually occur Mondays at 6:30pm.
MPB Parish Children’s Choir
MPB Parish Children’s Choir
The MPB Parish Children’s Choir provides children an opportunity to serve, become involved in the liturgy, learn about music and singing and have fun. ALL parish children, in 2nd-6th grade of any school, are welcome to join. There is no audition, however, the child should be interested in singing and be able to attend bi-monthly rehearsals. We sing approximately once a month at a weekend Mass, on Christmas Eve and on Good Friday. The season runs from September through May. Students that are in 7th grade or higher may still participate as helpers or they may move up to the Adult Music Ministry.
