Bereavement ministers offer support to those grieving in our parish for the first year following the death of a loved one. Support is offered through cards, calls, and visits, as well as through the Life After Loss Grief Group. Lazarus Bereavement Ministry also plans the All Souls’ Day Liturgy on November 2nd.

Lazarus Bereavement Ministry is the outreach presence of the entire MPB community to those members suffering loss. Lazarus ministers support members of our MPB community during the grieving process over the loss of a loved one.

Lazarus ministers support MPB community members through the first year of bereavement through phone calls, notes, supplying resources, prayer and presence. Bereavement ministers are also available for one on one visits as needed, in addition to our Life After Loss Bereavement group.

Life After Loss Bereavement group

Life After Loss – MPB Grief Support Group meets every second Wednesday morning of the month from 9:30-11 AM in the lower level of the Parish Center. (Elevator available.)

The mission of the group is to allow individuals to share their experiences, feelings and emotions following the death of a loved one with others who are on the very same journey. In the sharing, we often discover new ways of coping and begin to discover new strength, hope, and community.

The group is led by a MPB parishioner Rosemary Claassen, an experienced grief group facilitator. Please call Rosemary with any questions at 802.324.0276.

If you or someone you know are in need of bereavement support, please contact: Parish Office at 303.756.3083 or contact@mpbdenver.org.

Please accept our sincere sympathy on the loss of your loved one. Whether or not your loved one’s funeral is at MPB or even lived in the area, the Lazarus Ministry wants to support you during this time of loss. Please call the MPB office, 303.756.3083 to give us information for your loved one’s name to be listed in our bulletin and prayer list.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Matthew 5:4

Lazarus Bereavement Ministry’s mission is to reach out to those who mourn. Each month the First Friday mass is dedicated to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Each year the All Soul’s Day service is devoted to remembering those we have lost. Information for these events will be in the bulletin as well as on the parish calendar.

Resources during times of Loss

Our ministry has gathered a list of Grief Support Resources available in our area. Many, but not all of the resources deal with specific losses such as suicide, loss of a child etc.

GRIEF SUPPORT RESOURCES

The HeartLight Center is a local nonprofit organization that provides grief support and education for adults. They have many excellent ongoing programs.

It is often hard to convey your feelings to a person in mourning. The Lazarus Bereavement Ministry has compiled a list of grief information to help you bring comfort those who mourn.

If you are interested in being contacted by someone in the Lazarus Bereavement Ministry, please call the Parish Office at 303.756.3083 or contact@mpbdenver.org.

Volunteers needed!  If you are interested in sharing your gifts of compassion, support and a listening ear to those who are grieving, please contact Christine in the parish office or at cmaschka@mpbdenver.org.  We would love to visit with you about joining our Bereavement Team.
